About
Teresa McWalters is a native-born San Franciscan and practicing designer her home town. Her work is inspired by the inherent virtues of physical space as the fertile soil of human encounter. Grounded in the belief that big ideas are born from an inquiry of small things, Teresa’s work stems from her interests in people, relationships to natural world, and history. These interests help provide a framework with which to uncover the depth and richness within the everyday and the unseen experience, to further establish a sense of place and belonging.
Teresa earned her Masters of Architecture from Harvard University, Graduate School of Design in 2012, and Bachelors in Art History & Theory from Stanford University in 2008. She has served on architectural review juries and is a former lecturer at Stanford's d.School. She was a 2013 Fulbright Fellow in Mumbai, India, investigating the socio-spatial effects of low-rise / high-density dwelling and the inherently human experience of place-making. This experience has deeply shaped her interest in both the form and function of dwelling in the urban realm. She currently works for herself and is accepting new projects.
